We use 14 Sun V210 / V215s spread across 2 sites, fronted by a pair of co-located load balancers to give us resilience and failover.

Our portal is used by almost the entire University and is now regularly seeing over 1,000,000 logins per month. We have Applicants, Students, Affiliates, Staff and Alumni within the portal now and hope during 2009 to being our final community (eVisitors - people very losely affiliated with the institution) on board. It forms a core part of the University's service delivery platform and has been aided greatly by top level initiatives such as the University Knowledge Management strategy. We aim to move to uPortal v3.1 in later 2009 to take advantage of all the improvements in that release, in particular the UI enhancements.
