|
Jasig is very pleased to announce that Justin Erenkrantz, President of the Apache Software Foundation,
will be the Tuesday keynote speaker at Jasig's
upcoming San Diego conference, Ten Years of Open Source Innovation,
Sunday through Wednesday, March 7-10, 2010, at the Town and Country
Resort.
Abstract:
The Apache Software Foundation: No Jerks Allowed
Recently celebrating its tenth anniversary, The Apache Software
Foundation has evolved into one of the largest open-source foundations -
overseeing over 70 independent projects: including Tomcat, OFBiz,
SpamAssassin, Subversion, and Hadoop. In this keynote, we will review
the history and structure of the foundation, and, more importantly,
discuss the "societal norms" that help to characterize these projects
through "The Apache Way." We will also discuss the growing pains we
have encountered as we grew the foundation from a single project into
its current state as well as Apache's licensing philiosophies, and the business
models that are commonly seen with Apache projects.
BIO:
Justin R. Erenkrantz is currently President of The Apache Software
Foundation. He received his PhD from the University of California,
Irvine. He has been a long-time contributor to the Apache HTTP
Server, Subversion, APR, Serf, mod_mbox, and flood.
